Please release recent changes

Sorry to be the one to ask this in an issue, but is there an ETA for the next release? We've been keenly following #767 over the year, and while it was merged on 16th September there doesn't appear to have been a release yet that includes it.

Is there any chance we could get a release soon? 🙏

Hi @rnorth, Thanks for reaching out. The changes from #767 have been merged, and these changes will be reflected in our upcoming releases. We will share an update as soon as the release is available.

In the meantime, to utilize this feature, please reference the actions/setup-java@main branch in your workflows.

Thanks for the workaround suggestion - unfortunately our policy would not allow us to use untagged/unreleased versions, so we'll have to wait. I'm hoping that it will be soon.

Hi @rnorth, The changes from #767 have now been officially released in v5.1.0. To start using it, please use actions/setup-java@v5. As it is now available, we’re going to close this issue. Please feel free to reach out if you have any concerns or need further help.
